WACO, Texas (May 17, 2013) - At their spring meeting today, the Baylor University Board of Regents approved construction of phase one of a new on-campus track and field stadium and voted to move forward in developing the design for the proposed new School of Business building.

WACO, Texas (May 7, 2013) - With a backdrop of Baylor Stadium rising above the banks of the Brazos River, Baylor University today celebrated significant progress in both fundraising - at $100 million in private support - and construction on the University's $250 million on-campus football stadium which is slated to open in fall 2014.

As the spring semester winds to a close, over the past two weeks Baylor University has celebrated the success of not one — but two — $100 million fundraising programs, thanks to the faithful and generous support of Baylor Nation who stepped forward with gifts of all sizes to bring Baylor Stadium and the President’s Scholarship Initiative to reality.

The tragic events in the nearby town of West, Texas have deeply impacted and saddened the Baylor community. At the same time, they have called forth a powerful demonstration of the Christian mission and character of this great University. Through acts of service, sacrifice and generosity, the Baylor family both near and far have responded actively and compassionately to this terrible tragedy. As a result, we have demonstrated to our neighbors in West, and to the nation, the very essence of Baylor University.

The 12 first responders who died battling the fire that led to last week's explosion in West, Texas, were remembered during a memorial service in the Ferrell Center Thursday afternoon. Baylor University was honored to provide the site for the service, which was organized by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation and the Texas LODD Task Force

(April 23, 2013) - Beneath streams of green and gold confetti, Baylor University announced today the successful culmination of a three-year effort to raise $100 million in scholarship support for Baylor students. The President's Scholarship Initiative was launched by Baylor President Ken Starr after taking office in 2010.

Baylor President Ken Starr reaches out to Baylor Nation about the tragic events in West, Texas, only 17 miles from the Baylor campus. The University community continues to be in prayer for West and for the members of our own Baylor family whose lives have been disrupted by this disaster so suddenly. However, on Diadeloso, a day of tradition for our University, Baylor Nation is choosing to embody an even greater tradition -- that inspired by Christ Jesus to be energetically in service to the needy.

Mitchell - distinguished Statesman, Special Envoy for Peace, nominee for the Nobel Peace Prize and recipient of the Presidential Medal of Freedom - for "On Topic," a series of compelling conversations on contemporary issues, at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 16, in Waco Hall on the Baylor campus.

AUSTIN, Texas (March 12, 2013) - Celebrated Baylor University alumnus, Washington Redskins quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III was honored today by both the Texas Legislature and his alma mater, which announced the establishment of the Robert Griffin III (RG3) Quarterback Scholarship during "RG3 Day" at the State Capitol.
