WACO, Texas (July 18, 2014) – At its annual summer meeting, Baylor University’s Board of Regents celebrated a major gift that will provide for significant renovation to the campus’s historic Fifth Street – home to many cherished University traditions, such as Homecoming, Diadeloso and Christmas on Fifth. The gift, which has an approximate value of $8 million, was made by Baylor alumnus and physician Dr. Thomas J. Rosenbalm in honor of his father and mother.

Tommye Lou Davis has been appointed Chief of Staff to the President. Ms. Davis also will retain her responsibilities as Vice President for Constituent Engagement. Juan Alejandro Jr., Ed.D., has been appointed Interim Vice President of Governance and Risk and Chief Compliance Officer. Both currently serve on the President’s Executive Council.

WACO, Texas (April 1, 2014) - In an effort to provide expanded assessment and therapy services for Central Texas children with developmental disabilities, such as Autism Spectrum Disorders, Baylor University and McLane Children's Scott & White today launched the Baylor University Center for Developmental Disabilities (BCDD) during a celebration and open house at the clinic's new home at Hillcrest MacArthur Center, 2201 MacArthur Dr., in Waco. From humble beginnings in the 1970s in their Oklahoma City garage, David and Barbara Green launched what is now the sprawling nationwide commercial enterprise, Hobby Lobby. Their company - now owned entirely by five members of the Green family - is now at the epicenter of an important legal battle over the breathtaking reach of the Affordable Care Act. At issue is whether - due to the Greens' deeply held religious objections - the Hobby Lobby owners have an enforceable freedom-of-conscience right not to provide several contraceptive methods (four out of the 20 ACA-required methods) to the crafts company's employees. The Supreme Court will hear oral argument in this closely watched case on March 25.

WACO, Texas (July 10, 2013) - Following extensive discussion with the Waco Foundation and the City of West Long Term Recovery Committee, Baylor University announced today that $290,716 in total contributions to the Baylor West Relief Fund will be allocated to First Baptist Church of West to aid the remainder of its debris removal project. The project saves West homeowners thousands of dollars in costs and moves forward the process of rebuilding their homes.

DeBakey, Selma DeBakey and Lois DeBakey Endowed Scholarship in Medical Humanities. Mr. Allbritton, a Baylor alumnus and former Regent, passed away Dec. 12, 2012, just 17 days before his 88th birthday. He is survived by his wife, Barbara, his son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Elena, and two grandchildren.

According to schedule, following approval by the Baylor University Board of Regents at its 2011 homecoming meeting, the university has published an online draft of its 10-year strategic plan. The University is inviting the Baylor community to review the draft plan and provide feedback. As a continuation of its strategic planning process, Baylor officials will hold on-campus meetings to consider the plan publicly and more fully. Comments and suggestions will be accepted on the strategic planning website through March, and the plan will be finalized at the end of the fiscal year in May.

At its summer meeting today, the Baylor University Board of Regents set tuition and required fees for the 2012-2013 academic year and approved the design and construction of an indoor tennis practice facility for the university's championship tennis programs, improvements to the outdoor tennis center and the hiring of an architectural firm to design the renovation of the Marrs McLean Science Building.
