Happy Thanksgiving! - November 18, 2021

November 18, 2021

Dear Baylor Family:

Happy Thanksgiving!

In the First Epistle to the Thessalonians, the Apostle Paul encouraged the members of the Christian community he had founded in Thessalonica to be strong in their faith. He wrote, "Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (1 Thessalonians 5:16-18).

Our walk together as Christians grows in strength when we express and practice gratitude to God - and to one another. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I am overwhelmed by how abundantly Baylor has been blessed through the unwavering support of the Baylor Family during the past year. I am so thankful for the many embracing and uplifting actions you have taken to ensure that the Baylor experience remains one of transformation and deepened faith for the thousands of men and women we have the privilege of educating and caring for as students.

At the heart of Thanksgiving is gathering together as family and friends to participate in a variety of traditions, from breaking bread to, yes, even watching football games. We are renewed and strengthened through such activities, particularly after a long year. As such, Thanksgiving is a time of staying connected to what has given us direction in life while also being inspired to achieve more as individuals and communities.

This Thanksgiving, Baylor is experiencing a period of remarkable progress as we seek God's guidance in becoming the preeminent Christian research university. As we do so, we remain grounded in the long-standing values and distinct mission that have made Baylor special over the past 176 years. Our Christian faith continues to be our guiding light. Every new facility that rises on our campus, every new educator joining our faculty and every new student we welcome is a blessing from God. We are grateful to be building for the future on a firm foundation and to have each of you walking alongside us in these endeavors.

May God bless you and your loved ones as you celebrate Thanksgiving together.

Sincerely,

Linda A. Livingstone, Ph.D.
President
