Join us for The Gathering

April 5, 2017

Dear Baylor Family,

On Palm Sunday, April 9, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., Baylor's McLane Stadium will once again be the site of "The Gathering" -- an evening of music, prayer and worship that reaches across denominational and racial lines in our community. When this service first was held in 2015, more than 35,000 people from across the city and around the world joined in a spirit of unity to worship together.

I invite you to come and be part of The Gathering. More than 100 churches and organizations are partnering to support this event. If you are unable to travel to Waco for the event, you can stream The Gathering live online at KWTX.com.

Miles McPherson, formerly of the San Diego Chargers, and now pastor of Rock Church in San Diego, will be speaking. Rock Church has more than 180 ministries to neighborhoods, youth groups, prisons and senior care facilities. Baylor men's basketball coach Scott Drew and Jorge Ramos, who leads a ministry to ex-convicts, will share their testimonies. Anthony Evans, Christian music artist and talent producer from television's "The Voice," will perform and a 1,000-member choir of volunteers from local churches will provide music for the event.

The Gathering supports our area food banks. Admission to the service is free, but attendees are asked to donate two canned goods. In 2015, The Gathering collected 15 tons of canned goods to distribute to those in need in Central Texas.

Finally, I ask that you pray for this event: for those leading the service, for those who will counsel the hundreds who will make decisions at the conclusion of the event, and for all those gathered together to experience God's Spirit.

Sincerely,

David E. Garland
Interim President
