President Starr's United Way Message

Nov. 18, 2011

Dear Baylor Family,

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, the Baylor family shows its support for the greater Waco community by taking an active part in the United Way campaign. This week you should have received a pledge card for the 2012 calendar year in campus mail. Please take a moment and consider making your pledge before the holidays by using the on-line form. Your gift - no matter the size - can make a noticeable difference in the lives of those in need, right here in our community.

The number of organizations in our community that are supported with contributions to United Way is extensive. You are likely to find a cause that is important to you personally among the agencies associated with this important effort. If you desire, you may designate your donation to a particular United Way agency. There is also an option to continue to build the Baylor Family Compassion Fund. What a great way to support those with need within our own Baylor family.

Members of the Baylor family generously give of time and talent to help curb the suffering from hunger and other profound needs right here in our community. Now, in the context of this University wide effort, I heartily urge the participation of every faculty and staff member in Baylor 2012 pledge card.

Please join Alice and me -- and the United Way -- in "Helping People Here". Your donation, large or small, will make an important difference.

Gratefully,

Ken Starr
