Specifically, Judge Starr writes about a week-long inspirational journey of a group of 30 Baylor alumni and friends led by Todd Still, Ph.D., The William H. Hinson Professor of Christian Scriptures at Truett Seminary. The journey took the Baylor delegation to magnificent Grecian ports of call in retracing the Apostle Paul’s second missionary journey.

WACO, Texas (July 31, 2013) – Baylor University is grieved at the loss of alumnus and former McAllen mayor Jack Allen Whetsel of Austin, formerly of McAllen, who passed away July 29, 2014. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9, at First Presbyterian Church, 104 S. 12th Street, in McAllen.

WACO, Texas (July 21, 2014) - For the fourth year in a row, Baylor University joined an elite group of universities named to <i>The Chronicle of Higher Education</i>’s 2014 Honor Roll as one of the country’s “Great Colleges to Work For.” Of only 42 national universities awarded Honor Roll status, Baylor is one of only two universities in the large university category (10,000 or more students) to achieve recognition in 10 of the 11 categories recognizing specific best practices and policies.

WACO, Texas (July 18, 2014) – At its annual summer meeting, Baylor University’s Board of Regents celebrated a major gift that will provide for significant renovation to the campus’s historic Fifth Street – home to many cherished University traditions, such as Homecoming, Diadeloso and Christmas on Fifth. The gift, which has an approximate value of $8 million, was made by Baylor alumnus and physician Dr. Thomas J. Rosenbalm in honor of his father and mother.

WACO, Texas (July 10, 2014) – Baylor University President and Chancellor Ken Starr today announced two appointments to the executive staff of the University. Tommye Lou Davis has been appointed Chief of Staff to the President. Ms. Davis also will retain her responsibilities as Vice President for Constituent Engagement. Juan Alejandro Jr., Ed.D., has been appointed Interim Vice President of Governance and Risk and Chief Compliance Officer. Both currently serve on the President’s Executive Council.

Big 12 administrators are taking a proactive role in shaping the discussions around the future of college athletics as Texas athletic director Steve Patterson, Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr and league commissioner Bob Bowlsby will head to New York on Aug. 6 and host an panel discussion dubbed “The State of College Athletics” from the Hilton Midtown Hotel.

Baylor University President and Chancellor Ken Starr announced new staff appointments Thursday as part of the restructuring of his executive leadership team. Tommye Lou Davis, Baylor’s vice president for constituent engagement, will take on additional duties as the president’s chief of staff. Juan Alejandro, current director of internal audit and management analysis, was named interim vice president of governance and risk and chief compliance officer. VIDEO: Distinguished Baylor alumnus Ted Getterman, B.B.A. ’49, J.D. ’51, passed away Tuesday after a long illness at the age of 89. Dr. Ken Hall, senior vice president for development and strategic initiatives, is interviewed about Getterman's impact on both Baylor and his adopted hometown of Waco. Also quoted is Baylor President and Chancellor Ken Starr. Getterman and his wife, Sue, a former Baylor Regent, met and married at Baylor and have been among the University's most generous supporters, from endowed scholarships to athletics. Together, they were given Baylor’s highest honor – the Founders Medal, in 2005.
