The Summer Program at the National School of Tropical Medicine piqued my experience in global health research and education, to say the least. This program was pivotal in deepening my interest in helminthic infections and reinforced the subject matter of my thesis; it was an enormous learning experience. One minute, we were discussing how Schistosomiasis is carried by snails, and the next we were looking at this exact worm in Parasitology Lab. I made incredible connections while learning about the research, politics, and emotions involved with global health and tropical diseases.
