"The Pulse" Presents Undergraduate Student Lecture

The Pulse, the undergraduate journal of Baylor University, will present a lecture by senior University Scholar Stephen Margheim on his essay "Barfield contra Lewis on Truth and Imagination" at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, in the Alexander Reading Room on the Baylor campus.

The event is free and open to the public, and free copies of the new edition of The Pulse will be given to attendees.

Margheim's essay was chosen for The Pulse student lecture by a Phi Beta Kappa committee which evaluated essays from the 2010-2011 fall and spring editions of the journal.

The student lecture was established in 2005 as the first lecture series designed exclusively for student speakers at Baylor. The lecture series is sponsored by The Pulse, the Honors College, College of Arts and Sciences, Phi Beta Kappa and Honors College Living and Learning Center.

The Baylor Honors College established The Pulse undergraduate journal in 2004 as an effort to encourage undergraduate scholarship through publication opportunities. Every semester several undergraduate essays are published in The Pulse both in print and online.

This year, 42 essays were submitted to The Pulse for publication. Pulse editors selected eight essays to be published in the new edition.
