Church-State Studies Will Present Lecture on Religion in Age of Relativity
Peter Ludwig Berger is Distinguished Professor of Church-State Studies, and University Professor of Sociology and Theology Emeritus at Boston University, where from 1985-2009 he directed the Institute on Culture, Religion and World Affairs.

Peter Berger, Distinguished Professor of Church-State Studies at Baylor University, will lecture on "Dialogue Between Religious Traditions in an Age of Relativity" at 4 p.m. Wednesday, March 30, in Room 116 of Draper Hall on the Baylor campus.
Berger also is a University Professor of Sociology and Theology Emeritus at Boston University, where he directed the Institute on Culture, Religion and World Affairs from 1985 to 2009. He has written dozens of books and hundreds of articles on sociological theory, the sociology of religion and Third World development, many of which have been translated into foreign languages.
His most recent book is In Praise of Doubt: How to Have Convictions without Becoming a Fanatic. Berger also was awarded the Manes-Sperber Prize, presented by the Austrian government for significant contributions to culture.
The lecture is hosted by the J.M. Dawson Institute of Church-State Studies. Baylor established the institute in 1957, named in honor of Dawson, an outstanding alumnus, distinguished author and ardent advocate of religious liberty and the separation of church and state.
The Institute is the oldest and most well established facility of its kind located in a university setting. It is exclusively devoted to research in the broad area of religion, politics and society, and committed to the separation of church and state and the advancement of religious liberty around the world.
