Baylor Honors College Welcomes Dr. Robert Louis Wilken for Colloquium

Dr. Robert Louis Wilken, William R. Kenan Jr. Professor of History of Christianity at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va., will lecture on "Augustine and Fides Caritate Formata" at 7 p.m. Friday, March 18, in Armstrong Browning Library's Foyer of Mediation on the Baylor University campus.

The event, which is free and open to the public, is presented by the Baylor Honors College. A discussion will follow the lecture from 8 to 9 p.m., moderated by Dr. Richard Mouw, president and professor of Christian philosophy at Fuller Theological Seminary in Pasadena, Calif.

Wilken received his doctorate from the University of Chicago. His expertise includes early and medieval Christian history and thought, Byzantine Christianity, history of biblical interpretation, early Christian ethics, Eastern Christianity, Christianity and Islam, and Augustine.

He has taught at Gregorian University in Italy, Institutum Patristicum Augustinianum in Italy, the Hebrew University of Jerusalem the University of Notre Dame, Fordham University and Lutheran Theological Seminary.

He also is the author of 10 books, including "The Land Called Holy: Palestine in Christian History and Thought," "The Christians as the Romans Saw Them," "John Chrysostom and the Jews; Rhetoric and Reality in the Late Fourth Century" and "Early Christian Literature and the Greek Intellectual Tradition."
