Follow us on Twitter: @BaylorUMediaCom While many students will be tanning on the beach or skiing the slopes this spring break, one group of Baylor University students will be exploring key historical sites of the American Civil Rights Movement as they embark on the Baylor Civil Rights Tour. The trip, held Saturday, March 5, through Sunday, March 13, is presented by the Baylor Department of Student Activities and the Office of Service and Learning. Twenty-five students will travel from Waco by charter bus to Little Rock, Ark.; Memphis, Tenn.; Oxford, Miss.; Birmingham, Selma, and Montgomery, Ala.; and New Orleans, La., to study perspectives of the Civil Rights Movement and discuss current issues surrounding its legacy. They will visit museums, institutes and monuments and take part in small group discussions related to race and justice. Students filled out an application and paid a $110 fee to attend.
