Pulitzer Prize Winner Will Speak at Annual Honors College Lecture Series

Baylor University Honors College will host Pulitzer Prize winner Dr. Marilynne Robinson, professor at University of Iowa Writers Workshop, at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in the Alexander Reading Room as a part of the Honors College lecture series.

Robinson will speak on "Writing As an Act of Faith." She has published numerous books and essays, including Gilead, which won the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 2005.

Robinson also give a reading and hold a question-and-answer session in Baylor's department of English. The event will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 18, in Carroll Science Building, Room 102. It is open to the public, but seating is limited to about 50 people.

Robinson has served as writer-in-residence and visiting professor for colleges and universities such as the University of Kent in England, Amherst College in Amherst, Mass., and the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, Mass.

Sponsors of the lecture series will host a book signing by Robinson from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, in the Allbritton Foyer of Moody Memorial Library.

The honors lecture series was designed to stimulate thought and discussion through inviting distinguished professionals to conduct interactive lectures on a variety of topics. These lectures are held throughout the fall and spring semesters and are free and open to the public, but seating is limited.
