Baylor Writer-in-Residence Will Give Poetry Reading for the Public on Nov. 11

Award-winning poet Dr. William Virgil Davis, Baylor University Writer-in-Residence and professor of English, will give a poetry reading at 4 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 11, in Draper Academic Building, Room 116.
The event, which is free and open to the public, will be sponsored by the department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at Baylor.
Among Davis' published poetry books are "Landscape and Journey," 2009 (Winner of the New Criterion Poetry Prize and the Helen C. Smith Memorial Award for Poetry); "Winter Light," 1990; "The Dark Hours," 1984 (Winner of the Calliope Press Chapbook Prize); and "One Way to Reconstruct the Scene," 1980 (Winner of the Yale Series of Younger Poets Prize).
He also has published poetry and short fiction in periodicals, journals and scholarly books.
Davis earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in English from Ohio University in Athens, Ohio; a master's of divinity degree in theology from The Pittsburgh Theological Seminary in Pittsburgh; and his Ph.D. in English from Ohio University.
