The Robbins MBA Healthcare Program at Baylor University's Hankamer School of Business has achieved accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Management Education (CAHME).

"Accreditation indicates that the program is in an elite group," said John Lloyd, president and CEO of CAHME. "I am very impressed with the Baylor program's ability to engage the employer community in providing internship opportunities for students."

Launched in 2003 in response to the growing need for college graduates trained in business disciplines with a special focus on healthcare, Baylor's Robbins MBA Healthcare Program has placed 100 percent of its graduates seeking employment with leading healthcare systems.

"CAHME accreditation represents industry approval of our product; but this recognition, while satisfying, is only the beginning," said Dr. James Henderson, academic director of Baylor's MBA healthcare program. "We will not rest until our program is recognized as one of the premier programs in the country. That is our goal."

Key elements of the program include integration into the existing core MBA Lockstep program augmented by healthcare policy and administration courses, an executive residency program in which each student serves in a seven-month paid residency in a leading healthcare institution, and a multidisciplinary focus with emphasis on medical, economic, administrative, business, social, legal and ethical issues related to health policy and administration.

CAHME accreditation is the benchmark by which students and employers determine the integrity of healthcare management education and establishes the standard of measurement for the world community. Prospective students know when they apply they are getting a quality program that meets high standards, both academically and practically.

Of the 81 programs accredited by CAHME in the United States, Canada and Puerto Rico, 18 are in schools of business.
