Baylor's School of Music Will Present June Series of Faculty and Student Recitals

The Baylor University School of Music will present its annual Summer Piano Institute from June 20 through 26 in Roxy Grove Hall.
This year's Institute will host a total of 40 high school piano students from Texas and South Carolina.

In an opening faculty recital at 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, June 20, Jane Abbott-Kirk will perform Chopin's Andante Spianato and Grand Polonaise Brillante. Dr. Brian Marks, along with flutist Helen Ann Shanley, and clarinetist Dr. Richard Shanley. will play two of Libby Larsen's Barn Dances; Dr. Terry Lynn Hudson and Dr. Andrew Hudson will offer the Duo of David Lefkowitz; and Dr. Brian Marks will perform Beethoven's Piano Sonata No. 27 and Debussy's L'isle joyeuse.

A second faculty recital will be at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, June 21. Dr. Bradley Bolen will present Chopin's Andante Spianato and Scherzo No. 4; Dr. Lesley McAllister and clarinetist Dr. Scott McAllister will present the latter's Bling Bling, and Dr. Kae Hosoda-Ayer will perform the "Tarantella" from Liszt's Venezia e Napoli.
On Tuesday, June 22, Baylor students will perform a 7:30 p.m. recital: Sami Froncek (Bach), Mario Barbosa (Schumann and Sibelius), Jonathan Pinto (Muczynski), Ariana Phillips (Falla), and Zachary Ridgway (Scriabin).

Baylor students will perform again at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 24: Brittany Hostak (Shostakovich), Danielle Creider (Schubert), Elizabeth Leddy (Granados), Mario Barbosa (Ravel), Sami Froncek (Schumann and Prokofieff), Clint Kimmel (Rachmaninoff), and Jason Terry (Mendelssohn).

The week-long series of recitals will come to a close with two events featuring many of the Institute's high school students. Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. Friday, June 25, and at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 26.
