Baylor University's Martin Museum of Art will host the Texas Photographic Society Members Only Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday June 8, through Thursday, June 10.

This will mark the first time the museum has hosted one of the society's events. The exhibition will take place in Gallery I and Gallery II of the museum. The event is open to the public free of charge.

"We are very pleased to have the exhibition here at the Martin Museum of Art," said Karin Gilliam, museum director. "People from all over the state will be here."

The Texas Photographic Society consists of professional and student photographers. The organization seeks to find outlets for photographers to showcase their work through exhibits and online.

Jurors were Dr. Clark Baker, chair of the department of journalism and media arts; Susan Mullally, assistant professor of art; and Susan Dunkerley Maguire, associate professor of art. They chose the 64 artists whose work will be displayed.

"I look for images that ask me to participate and to engage in that visual dialogue in a new way," said Mullally.

Photographer Michael Verhoef of Zoetermeer, Netherlands, took first place, winning $750. Sandra Chen Weinstein of Lake Forest, Calif., took second place and $350. Ellen Rennard of Chicago took third place, winning $200.

"Most of the artists are from Texas, but there are national and international artists who will be featured," said Cheri Smith, collections assistant for the Martin Museum of Art.

A reception for the exhibition will be from 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 10, in the foyer of the Martin Museum of Art. This event is also free and open to the public. The museum is located at 60 Baylor Avenue in Waco on the Baylor campus. For more information, contact the museum at (254) 710-6390.
