Three Baylor Music Faculty Members Will Perform with Dallas Symphony Orchestra May 20-23

Follow us on Twitter:@BaylorUMediaCom Three members of Baylor University's music faculty will perform with Dallas Symphony Orchestra in four concerts in late May at Dallas' Morton H. Meyerson Symphony Center. Performing will be Dr. Wiff Rudd, professor of trumpet, rhythm and brass; Dr. Brent Phillips, assistant professor of trombone; and Dr. Jeffrey Powers, associate professor of horn, on French horn. They will perform Mahler's Symphony No. 2 ("Resurrection") with orchestra and chorus. The three musicians are principals of their sections in the Waco Symphony and occasionally perform with the Dallas Symphony, Houston Symphony, Houston Grand Opera and San Antonio Symphony. This will be the first time all three will play together with a major orchestra. Symphony No. 2 was Mahler's most popular and successful work during his lifetime and expressive his lifelong view of the beauty of afterlife and resurrection. Performances will be at 8 p.m. Thursday, May 20; 8 p.m. Friday, May 21; 8 p.m. Saturday, May 22; and 2:30 p.m. Sunday, May 23. The Meyerson is at 2301 Flora St. in Dallas.
