Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex will host its winter exhibition for 2009 - All Aboard The Mayborn Express - on Dec. 5 through Jan. 3, 2010, in the Thomas E. and Emilyne Weed Anding Traveling Exhibition Gallery.

All Aboard the Mayborn Express is a model train exhibit by the Central Texas Area Model Railroaders. It includes operating layouts of six model trains with scenes of bridges, trestles, cities and towns that depict past and present. The models range in size from a Z scale, which is the smallest commercially available model railway, to the more commonly used G scale, referred to as the garden railway.
"We are very pleased to have the opportunity to bring the train's exhibit back to the Mayborn Museum," said Mark Smith, assistant director of the museum's promotions and events department. "The opening of this exhibit is yet another way we continually strive to bring quality exhibits for families to enjoy together during the holiday."
The opening is the first of several holiday festivities at the Mayborn Museum during December, including storytelling, puppet shows and children's musical performances. The museum will be decorated throughout the holidays, which will allow museum visitors photo opportunities. Check the Mayborn Museum website at www.MaybornMuseum.com for details.
The Mayborn Museum Complex is open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays; 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursdays; and 1 to 5 p.m. Sundays. It is located on the Baylor campus at 1300 S. University Parks Drive.
Museum admission, which includes the train exhibit, is $6 for adults, $5 for seniors and $4 for children. The exhibition is free for all museum members and Baylor students. For more information, call (254) 710-1100.
