Baylor University's Spiritual Life department hosts Chapel speakers every Monday and Wednesday at 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. in Waco Hall on the Baylor campus. This October, students will be inspired by faith-based entrepreneurs, pastors and authors.
Oct. 5 -Shawn Achor, Head Teaching Fellow for positive psychology at Harvard University and Founder and CEO of Aspirant, will speak about the science behind individual happiness and the human potential. Achor founded Aspirant based on the ideals of using positive psychology to link together individual engagement and a more productive workplace to create an ultimate success. Achor has been featured in The New York Times, Boston Globe, Wall Street Journal, CNN and on NPR.
Oct. 12 -Dawn Eden lived the life of a successful rock journalist, writing for music magazines such as Salon and Mojo. At 31, Eden discovered her Christian faith and developed a pure lifestyle based on the teachings of chastity. In 2006, she published her first book, The Thrill of the Chaste, with the hope that she can help inspire others to make positive changes in their own life. Eden has traveled around the world speaking at colleges, including Yale, Notre Dame and Georgetown. She also has spoken to young adults throughout Canada, England and Ireland.
Oct. 26 -Ashley Cleveland, a Grammy-winning gospel artist, completed her eighth full length record "God Don't Never Change." Cleveland's latest album is inspired by her passion and support for Baylor's Black Gospel Music Restoration Project. Her songs echo Washington Phillips' "Denomination Blues" and Mattie Moss Clark's "Going To Heaven To Meet The King."
