Leadership Lecture Series Begins This Fall with Dr. Floyd Barry

WACO, Texas-Dr. Floyd Barry, who serves as Teaching Chief of Pediatrics of the Family Health Center and Residency Program in Waco, will present the first lecture of the Leadership Lecture Series from 6 to 7 p.m. Monday, Sept. 14 in Kayser Auditorium pm the Baylor University Campus.

The Lecture Series, which is free and open to the public, is apart of the Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement at Baylor. The academy hosts many lectures throughout the fall and spring semesters for students within the academy to get engaged in leading today's society.

Drawing on past events in his life, Barry will begin the series with a focus on his experience in private practice and leaving it to pursue a higher calling as Chief of Pediatrics at Family Health Center.

"Dr. Barry will share information on the importance of serving for the common good," said Ramona Curtis, director for the Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement. "His insight into the linkage of resources, which build bridges across communities, is empowering."

The Academy for Leader Development and Civic Engagement was established in 2004 by the Division of Student Life at Baylor University. Each semester the Academy for Leader Development will host the Leadership Seminar Series to introduce students to a variety of complex leadership "needs" in today's society

Each series is devoted to one of the Academy's leadership concentrations: leadership and contemporary social issues; leadership in public life; leadership in the church; and leadership through private enterprise.
