Baylor Law Professor's Blog Named a Top 100 Site

ABA Journal has selected the blog Law School Innovation, which is co-edited by Baylor Law Professor Mark Osler, as one of the top 100 best legal blogs by lawyers, for lawyers in the Professor category.
Osler co-edits the blog with Anumpam Chander, professor of law at the University of California, Davis, and currently visiting professor at Yale Law School; Gene Koo, CALI Fellow at the Berkman Center for Internet and Society, Harvard Law School; and Doug Berman, The William B. Saxbe Designated Professor of Law at Ohio State University.
The Blawg 100, Best of the Blogosphere list appears in the December 2008 issue of the ABA Journal. This is the second year the journal has released a list of the best legal blogs.
The four professors started the blog two years ago as part of the Law Professor Blog Network. Their site covers new innovations and trends -- whether entrepreneurial or technological -- that are changing both how they relate to their students and how they disseminate their scholarship.
"The Law School Innovation blog has been a lot of fun to work on, because the idea of innovation is always fresh," Osler said. "I was asked to help run the blog by Doug Berman of Ohio State, who has been a national leader in the evolution of legal blogs, largely through his Sentencing Law and Policy blog. Because Baylor Law charts a path different than so many other schools, it is a wonderful place from which to address this subject."
ABA Journal editor Edward Adams said that new legal blogs appear almost daily. In fact, the journal's website lists more than 2,000 in its online directory of blogs.
"Over the past five years, legal blogs have changed not only the profession, but legal scholarship," Osler said. "Because they provide immediate information, without the months or years-long delay involved in published law review articles, they have played a big role in the evolving debate over key legal questions. They also have allowed for a new level of interaction between practitioners and academics, something we here at Baylor care deeply about."
The ABA Journal is the flagship magazine of the American Bar Association, and it is read by half of the nation's 1.1 million lawyers every month. It covers the trends, people and finances of the legal profession from Wall Street to Main Street to Pennsylvania Avenue.
