Baylor University's Mayborn Museum Complex honored Omilou Miles of Waco as its Outstanding Volunteer of the Year at the museum's annual awards luncheon June 29 in the Piper Great Hall at Baylor's George W. Truett Theological Seminary.

Each year the Mayborn Museum Complex names a member of the Jeanes Team Volunteer Program to receive the Lillian M. Brown Volunteer of the Year award. The award is named in honor of Lillian M. Brown, who served countless hours as a volunteer and docent for the Strecker Museum.

Omilou Miles serves as a tour guide and weekly greeter for the museum. This spring, Omilou worked with museum staff to plan and prepare decorations for the Preview Party that celebrated the opening of this summer's exhibit, "Feathered Treasures: Ceremonial Objects of the Amazon." She is currently volunteering weekly as a docent for the "Feathered Treasures" exhibit, which is featured in the Anding Traveling Exhibits Gallery at the Mayborn.

"Museum staff and volunteer coordinators all agree that Omilou is a very deserving recipient for this year's award," said Carol Nowlin, assistant coordinator for volunteers and visitor services.
