Fort Worth Star Telegram: Baylor study points to urban bias in severe storm warnings

A study by two Baylor University researchers found that the Fort Worth-based National Weather Service office has a long history of issuing fewer severe thunderstorm warnings for rural Texas counties with small populations when a severe storm hits. On the other hand, an urban county with a large population -- especially Tarrant County -- will more often be issued a warning for a storm of the same intensity.

Kristin Elliott will join her older sister, volleyball student-athlete Mandy, at Baylor this fall. Last month, The Waco Tribune-Herald profiled Kristin's strong faith in her battle against a rare form of cancer. What caught the attention of ABC News was the unusual wish granted to her by the Make-A-Wish Foundation - to build an orphanage for children in Africa, where they would receive an education, medical care and love. ABC's Charlie Gibson concluded his story by mentioning that Kristin is headed for Baylor.

Baptist Standard: Baylor nursing students meet life-and-death needs in Africa

Five Baylor nursing students recently took a month-long medical mission trip to Ethiopia and Uganda. The trip was created to increase the capacity of nurses as health care providers and designed to enhance their education while serving the health needs in a developing country. The team discovered that it is a blessing to serve the needs of some of the poorest people in the world.
