    See lab syllabus.

Examples of Situations Involving Lab Absences:

A student on the track team must miss a lab to travel to a meet. The student has a letter from the Athletics Department, but forgot to present it to lab supervisor until two weeks after returning. This lab may not be made up. By failing to request the make-up lab a week in advance, without unusual circumstances preventing them from doing so, the student has declined the opportunity to make up the lab.

A student is in an accident and must spend two days in the hospital, causing him to miss lab. The student provides the lab supervisor documentation of the hospital stay. The lab may be made up.

A student has a family emergency, which necessitates her flying home. The student has gone to Division of Student Life, which has requested accommodation. The lab may be made up.

A student skips lab to study for a big exam. If the student contacts the lab supervisor within 2 days of the absence and it is possible to schedule a time to make up the missed experiment in a different lab section, then the student may make up the lab. If it is not possible to schedule a time to make up the lab in a different lab section, then the student will not be able to make up the lab and will receive a zero for that lab. The student will not be given permission to attend an end-of-semester make up lab.

A student stays up late the night before lab, and then sleeps through lab the next morning.

A student missses lab to attend a club meeting.

A student feels ill and is absent from lab; the student get medical attention at the SLC or another doctor's office. If the student contacts the lab supervisor within 2 days of the absence, and it is possible, the student makes up the lab in a different lab section. If it is not possible to schedule a time to make up the missed experiment in a different lab section, then the student may attend the end-of-semester lab, because the student has documentation.
