Former Student Receives Rookie of the Year Award

June 4, 2009

Dr. Jay Bruce, who received his Ph. D. in philosophy in 2008, was named Rookie of the Year by Alpha Chi Honor Society at John Brown University. Each year Alpha Chi recognizes outstanding faculty members who have been employed by the university less than three years. Dr. Bruce just completed his first year of employment at John Brown University in Arkansas where he is an assistant professor of philosophy. Two of his students made the following comments about Dr. Bruce:

•" He was always available. Not only is he very personable, he is very knowledgeable and able to express it with clarity."

•" Dr. Bruce is one of the most knowledgeable and enthusiastic professors I have ever had. He was able to lead class discussions in such a way that members of the class were involved, but Dr. Bruce still was able to steer us in the correct direction."
