Aug. 19, 2013

On June 15, 2013, Baylor University philosophy professor, Francis J. Beckwith, participated in a Vatican conference in Rome celebrating the papal encyclical, Evangelium Vitae. It was held on the campus of the Pontificia Università Urbaniana. Invited in March by the Vatican's Pontifical Council for the Promotion of the New Evangelization, Professor Beckwith delivered a paper entitled, "Always Be Ready: On Making the Case for Life."

On the morning of June 16, Professor Beckwith had a private audience with Pope Francis following the Holy Father's celebration of a Mass commemorating Evangelium Vitae. He presented the Pontiff with a signed copy of his book, Defending Life: A Moral and Legal Case Against Abortion Choice, published in 2007 by Cambridge University Press.
