Templeton Grants support to Dr. Trent Dougherty research on the nature of atonement

Nov. 6, 2012

Dr. Trent Dougherty, is the principal investigator on a research project aimed at exploring the concept of atonement -- the way in which the death and resurrection of Jesus brings humans into a right relationship with God.

Dougherty's project will bring together Baylor faculty and graduate students from the religion and philosophy departments and Truett Seminary for a series of reading, discussion and seminar groups related to this central issue in Christian theology.

The grant is funded by the Templeton Foundation, which awarded a cluster grant to the University of Notre Dame's Center for Philosophy of Religion. The Notre Dame center, in turn, awards grants to support the formation of interdisciplinary research groups at universities around the nation.
