Philosophy is about making progress on some of the most difficult and most important questions in life. When properly engaged, philosophy leads to a deeper understanding of human nature and the world around us. We are all philosophers. We naturally desire knowledge, ask questions, and inquire about the world. Thus, for most of us, the question is not 'why do philosophy?' but rather 'how can we inquire better?' Philosophy, as a discipline, provides the training needed to think well and critically engage with the central questions of life. As a philosophy major, you will enter into a community of well-trained seekers who care about ideas, each other, and believe that philosophy is essential to the good life.
