Follow these simple instructions to configure your Mac to print on the PawPrints network using AirBear or in your Residence Hall.
Open System Preferences
Select the Print & Fax icon
Under the Printer list, on the left, select the plus sign (+) to add a new printer
In the printer details window, select the IP icon at the top of the window
From the Protocol menu, select "Line Printer Daemon - LPD"
In the Address field, type in "pawprints.baylor.edu" (without quotes)
In the Queue field, enter the name of the printer you wish to use exactly as it appears in the lists below
In the Name field, enter a name that you will remember for this printer (can be anything). The Location field is optional
From the "Print Using" list, select "Generic PostScript Printer" for basic black and white printing. For advanced features and color printing, choose "Select printer software..." from the drop down box. A new window appears allowing you to search for the correct printer software. Begin typing a portion of the model into the search box to narrow the list, or scroll and find the printer model. Select the driver and click OK. Click Add
In the next window, the Installable options window, the only option you will need to check is the "Duplex unit" option which allows you to print two-sided. Only check this option if the printer is listed as two-sided capable in the list below
Click Continue and your printer should be ready to use. You may delete the printer after you're done using the minus sign (-) below the printer list, or keep it for future use
We derived these instructions using OS X version 10.6.2 (Snow Leopard). The setup for OS X version 10.5 (Leopard) is very similar. The setup for earlier versions of OS X (10.4 and below) differs slightly, but the basic steps remain the same. If you have difficulties, please contact us.
The following table provides the information you need to configure PawPrints printers for your Mac. The printer names usually reflect their locations around campus.
[NOTE: Some printer locations require card access. Not all printers listed - Please visit the associated print lab if you wish to use an unlisted printer.]
