Announcing... Baylor's 2011 Parents of the Year
Darius and Holly DiTallo, both 1979 Baylor graduates, are among the hundreds who found true love while pursuing a Baylor education. As Holly studied Spanish and history and Darius worked toward his bachelor of business administration degree in Accounting, they never could have imagined where life would take them. They married in 1980 and began following their career aspirations. After a four-year stint in Germany, the couple landed in Scottsdale, Arizona, where Darius is the CFO of ImageTag Inc., and Holly teaches eighth grade.
Later, Darius and Holly were blessed with two children, Devin and Hunter. While Devin earned her nursing degree at the University of Arizona, Hunter decided to follow the green and gold path laid by his parents (and his uncle and grandfather too!), rekindling the DiTallos' passion for their alma mater.
Hunter, now a senior social entrepreneurship major at Baylor, reflected on this decision: "My parents have never forced me to do anything in life, but when I decided to attend Baylor and follow in their footsteps, you could tell it was one of the proudest moments of their lives," he said. "Knowing this, I couldn't have been happier and more excited to attend a school where I knew my full potential and purpose as a servant to God would be reached."
Ever since Hunter began his Baylor experience, the DiTallos have served Baylor parents and students faithfully through the Phoenix Parents League Chapter of the Baylor Parents League. For four years, they have hosted the annual send-off party for Phoenix-area students and their families, welcoming them into the Baylor family. Holly also has led 1st Call to Prayer meetings for several years, providing meaningful opportunities for parents to support their students and each other through prayer.
"We are thrilled to have the opportunity to honor Darius and Holly," Judy Maggard, director of parent programs, said. "They have remained loyal and faithful to Baylor University through the years and are very proud of their Baylor roots."
"We have enjoyed our involvement with Baylor, particularly during the years that Hunter has been a student," Holly shared. "We look forward to continuing to hold a place in the Baylor Line."
In every way, the DiTallos have flung their green and gold in their community, embracing and exemplifying the spirit of the Baylor family.
