Perspectives Fall 2009

A Sneak Peak into how the Baylor Spirit Lives on!

It goes without saying that Parents Weekend is a favorite event for the folks at Baylor Parents League™and for good reason! But we hope this is only the beginning of the annual fall campus traditions you experience as Baylor parents.

Whether you live right down I-35 or clear across the country, the Baylor spirit is contagious. And you can play a vital part in encouraging your student to engage the traditions that remind us to lighten up, while also urging us to go deeper in our relationships and the educational experience.

Freshman Follies
A longstanding event hosted by Student Foundation, Freshman Follies is a great (and messy) opportunity for the freshman class to build camaraderie and community by sharing in a Baylor tradition designed specifically for them to enjoy. Armed with loads of shaving cream, ketchup and nacho cheese, it's the perfect time for Baylor's newest family members to bond and create life-long memories.

After Dark
Held annually during Parents Weekend, After Dark is an All-University variety show featuring top student talent from outstanding solo performances, dance, stand-up comedy to musical theater. Does your student have talent but is afraid to show it? Encourage them to try out for After Dark with a group of similarly interested friends, and turn a solo act into a bonding experience.

Homecoming
If you've had any significant encounters with Baylor Bears, you know we love our Baylor Homecoming. With the annual bonfire, parade, Pigskin performances, football game and more, it's a family reunion you won't want to miss.

Christmas on 5th Street
Every year several campus organizations join together to create an event that warms the heart right in the heart of campus. From Kappa Omega Tau's Annual Tree Lighting and Concert to the live nativity and petting zoo, Christmas on 5th Street is the perfect way for Baylor's family and friends to celebrate the end of the semester, the beginning of a new year and the true reason for the season.

And this is really only a drop in the fall calendar bucket. Discover more of Baylor's traditions on the Student Activities website. We invite you to step in and experience the traditions that remind us of why we love the Green and Gold and connect with your own Baylor Bear on a whole new level.
