In response to a multitude of requests for additional training from former participants in our popular online workshops, the Institute for Oral History offers advanced online workshops twice yearly on high-demand topics.

MANAGING AN ORAL HISTORY PROJECT

On Wednesday, February 17, 2016, the Institute will offer a three-hour online workshop focusing on special issues in project management for individuals who organize and direct the progress of oral history research.

• This advanced workshop is for persons who are directing an oral history project for their own research interests or on behalf of an organization, community group, or institution.

• Ideal workshop participants will have a topic appropriate for oral history research already selected and focused, and they will have set goals for preserving and sharing their research outcomes.

• Workshop leaders will address some of the major management issues that arise between the planning and sharing phases of an oral history project: managing technology and workflow; managing partners, team members, and volunteers; managing budgets and funding; and managing evaluation and assessment.

• Case studies from the broad management experience of the workshop faculty will fortify the instruction, and workshop participants will have access to a wide range of forms, documents, and resources that assist in project management.
