Teaching & Learning Oral HistoryClassroom teachers are discovering that oral history projects help students make sense of the past. When students meet someone face to face who lived the experiences they are reading about in books, history comes alive! Oral history interviewing connects the present to the past and also imparts important life skills, including researching primary sources, asking questions that get answers, doing active listening, and writing creatively. Begin your oral history adventure with the Workshop for Teachers. Then invite your students to visit our Workshop for Students. You may present the workshops to groups of teachers or students for educational purposes. Use these resources in tandem with our manual, Introduction to Oral History. The Institute for Oral History is continually revising its online workshops so that they will be more useful. If you encounter problems with the workshops or if you have comments, suggestions, or questions, please let us know by e-mail at BUIOH@baylor.edu. Explore BUIOH
