About the OA-LLC
The Outdoor Adventure Living and Learning Center is one if the unique opportunities at Baylor designed to put students with common interests together in living and learning environments that serve to enhance all areas of their development as college students.
Our mission statement is: "To provide like-minded students an opportunity for personal growth, intellectual stimulation and leadership skills through outdoor adventure experiences."
Students in the program will have one class together each semester. This class will prepare each student for the outdoor adventures that they will go on throughout the year and even beyond Baylor. In addition to this class, students will have opportunities to hear from speakers specializing in outdoor adventures. Students will also have amazing opportunities to plan and go on trips that feature kayaking, backpacking, rock climbing, and more! And if that isnt enough, there are tons of social events that will periodically happen throughout the year.
Students in the OA-LLC program will live on campus together in North Village. As a resident of the North Village, we anticipate your experience to be fun and exciting, inviting and communal, positive and meaningful, and filled with memorable moments.
While all activities of the OA LLC have educational components; some activities of the LLC also focus on the social, service, leadership and spiritual aspects of a student's life. The uniqueness of the OA LLC lies in a principle that outdoor adventure experiences can and do accelerate students learning about themselves and others. The unique environment which often gets students "out of their comfort zone" and faced with challenge (whether physical, mental or social) helps students develop life skills and traits necessary to be successful both in college and beyond.
If any of these statements describe you, then you are a great candidate for the Outdoor Adventure Living and Learning Center.
