Hazardous Weather Policy

The School of Nursing closes for bad weather days on the same days that the Dallas County Community College District (DCCCD)closes.

Under certain circumstances the School of Nursing may close even though DCCCD remains open. In such an event, the closing or delay will be announced on
WFAA TV (Ch. 8) and KRLD AM 1080 radio.
Closings will also be posted to www.cancellations.com.

Current Nursing Students

The regents, administration and faculty of Baylor University believe that students should have comprehensive and varied opportunities for physical, intellectual, social, cultural, religious and emotional development. To this end a variety of services, activities and facilities is available to students.

The Baptist Student Ministries Office (BSM) provides a broad base of religious and social activities for students on the Dallas campus.

The Mabel Peters Caruth Learning Resources Center, an audiovisual, electronic and print library specializing in nursing information is located on the fourth floor of Harry Bass Educational building. The collection includes journals, books, reference and reserve material, articles in vertical files, professional and association publications, online databases, audiovisual software and hardware and computer software and hardware which support faculty and student study at Louise Herrington School of Nursing.

Professional Organizations

Baylor Student Nurses Association (BSNA): BSNA is a very active campus organization which gives student nurses the opportunity to serve and learn about the nursing profession. Members are active in local, state and national meetings. BSNA supports local domestic abuse shelters with clothing drives and volunteer service.

BSNA chapters meet on both the Dallas and Waco campuses.

Sigma Theta Tau: Sigma Theta Tau is the National Honor Society in Nursing. The Eta Gamma Chapter was established at Baylor's Nursing School in 1984. The organization recognizes the achievement of scholarship of superior quality, seeks to recognize the development of leadership qualities, encourages and supports research and other creative work in nursing.
