Dr. Mary Ann Faucher is Certified Nurse-midwife who has been practicing midwifery in the Dallas community for the last 15 years. Dr. Faucher received two Master’s Degrees from Columbia University, in NYC, a Master of Science and a Master of Public Health. Her doctorate is in health behavior and education from Texas Women’s University. Mary Ann has taught in graduate education for 15 years, specifically teaching in nurse-midwifery and women’s health at U.T. Southwestern Medical Center and Parkland Hospital in Dallas. As coordinator for the nurse-midwifery program, she is responsible for the midwifery curriculum and guiding students through the NM-DNP program. She is a nationally sought after speaker and is widely published. Her research interests include, evidenced-based practice, adolescent risk behaviors, specifically smoking in young woman, cardiovascular health and prevention in women and environmental exposures and implications for women’s health. She continues to practice midwifery at Dallas County Health and Hospital District (Parkland Memorial Hospital). Dr. Faucher has served as an expert panel member with the San Antonio Evidence-based Practice Center, investigating treatments for chronic hypertension in pregnancy. As a member of the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Gynecologic Nursing (AWHONN), Dr. Faucher was the team leader and lead author of an Evidence-based Practice Guideline for the Primary Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease in Women. She is also Associate Editor of the Journal of Midwifery and Women’s Health.
