Dr. Caldwell is an assistant professor at the Baylor University Louise Herrington School of Nursing. Her teaching assignments have included first semester Professional Nursing Practice Skills and Health Assessment labs and senior level Community and Culture theory and clinical courses. Dr. Caldwell began her nursing education at Grayson County College in Denison, Texas where she received her Associate Degree in Nursing. She then received a BSN at the University of Texas at Arlington. For graduate work, Dr. Caldwell attended Texas Woman’s University in Denton Texas and received both an MSN as a Community Health Clinical Nurse Specialist and a PhD in Health Studies with a Higher Education Focus.

Dr. Caldwell has an extensive background in nursing law and regulation, as well as nursing education. She previously lived in Austin and served as a nursing consultant for education to the Texas Board of Nursing. Additionally, Dr. Caldwell is a certified legal nurse consultant and consults with attorneys on medical-related cases. Moreover, she has over 17 years’ experience teaching in professional nursing education programs. She has taught classes at North Central Texas College, Grayson County College, and Collin County Community College. Administratively, Caldwell spent a year as Director of Vocational Nursing Education Programs at Kaplan College and currently serves as Clinic Coordinator at Dallas LIFE. Early in her nursing career, Dr. Caldwell worked in critical care and home health.

Aside from teaching, Dr. Caldwell also spends time on the Baylor University LHSON Academic Policies committee. She is also a member of the National Alliance of Certified Legal Nurse Consultants, the Lone Star Association of Charitable Free Clinics, the American Nurses Association, and the Texas Nurses Association.

Dr. Caldwell has contributed to many scholarly sources. She was a contributing editor for Prentice-Hall textbook company and ATI Testing Company. She was also a textbook consultant for jones and Bartlett Publishing Company. Earlier, the Journal of Continuing Education in Nursing accepted a manuscript coauthored by Caldwell titled “Recall Rummy: Learning Can be Fun." Finally, Dr. Caldwell has aided the Texas Board of Nursing in revising its rules, position statements, and education guidelines.
