Research

The pursuit of new knowledge and the refinement of current knowledge are accomplished by the process of conducting research.  Researchers identify gaps in what is known for the purpose of identifying and developing questions for further evaluation.  Research is integral to the development of evidence based practices for use in patient care settings.  Doctoral prepared nurse researchers are instrumental in the development of evidence based interventions to enable the optimal provision of nursing care for patients and their families.  Faculty are currently working on projects which examine practices regarding the administration of childhood immunizations, upper arm versus wrist blood pressure measurement in parish settings, and the role of a spiritual care intervention in optimizing weight management.
