President Obama has named well-known Washington attorney Clifford Sloan as the State Department's envoy to lead the process of closing the U.S. military prison at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba. Sloan's selection was lauded by Baylor President Ken Starr, a former solicitor general; former U.S. Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens; and former Solicitor General Paul Clement.

VIDEO LINK: Baylor alum and Dallas Cowboy receiver Terrance Williams, BSEd '12, teamed up with the Cowboys, CenTex Pee Wee Football League and Baylor University for a one-day football camp at the Allison Indoor Football Practice Facility for youth affected by the explosion in West. The story also was carried by NBC affiliates in Portland, Abilene, Corpus Christi, Odessa and Lubbock, among others.

Baylor alumnus Seth Dorrell, director of the Mission World program at Mission Waco/World and son of part-time Baylor lecturers Jimmy and Janet Dorrell, died Sunday at age 32 of a heart attack caused in part by a two-year battle with cancer.

Third News Item: Chuck Kelley, BA '74 and president of New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary, presented former seminary graduates with the Alumni Award. One of those honored was Baylor alum and singer-songwriter Chris Machen, BMEd, '77, worship pastor at Preston Ridge Baptist Church in Frisco, Texas.
