ANN MARCH STRICKLIN
BUWC Woman of Distinction
Ann Stricklin is a native Texan, born in San Antonio, growing up in Waco and Ft. Worth.
She was graduated from Baylor University in 1958 with a degree in education, speech and English. On May 23, 1958, the same day she graduated from Baylor University, she married Gil Stricklin, her Baylor sweetheart. Following graduation she taught secondary English in public schools in South Carolina and Texas.
Through the years she has been involved in church, civic and educational activities. She has served as the first woman President of the Dallas Baylor Club, has been on the board of the Baylor Alumni Association serving on the Executive Committee, President of the Dallas Baylor Parents Network, founding member and President of the Baylor University Women's Council of Dallas. In 1997 she was honored as a Dallas Baylor University Woman of Distinction. She is the permanent class secretary for the Baylor Class of 1958.
Ann helped found the Dallas Prayer Ministry, having served as Chairman and Dallas Coordinator for the National Day of Prayer.
At church she has been involved in women's ministries, serving as Chairman of the Woman's Missionary Union, chairman of the women's retreats for five years, and lay director of Women's Ministries. She and her husband, Gil, began the Church Intercessory Prayer Ministry and the Nearly Wed Seminar, where they still serve as directors.
Gil founded Marketplace Ministries in 1984, providing a chaplain service to the secular work place. In 1991 when Gil was called to active duty in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm, she stepped in to oversee the daily operations of the nationwide ministry. Today she serves as Director of Special Projects for the ministry, headquartered in Dallas.
She and Gil have traveled extensively, living in Europe when Gil was on the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association Team.
Ann and Gil are the parents of fourth generation Baylor grad sons, Art ('83), married to Belinda in 1989, and Cliff ('86), married to Robin (‘86) the same year. She is the grandmother, known as "Bunny," to Allison, Ashley, Cal and Colton. Her grandfather, Jesse Yelvington, her father Caso March, and mother Harriet Mary Yelvington March, as well as numerous other relatives all attended Baylor.
Ann enjoys traveling, antiquing and decorating her early Texas country home. Her life verse is Matthew 6:33, "Seek ye first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you."
