Doug Fertsch

| Former Baylor football letterman and Baylor football coach Doug Fertsch serves as Director of the Sports Network. He is a 29-year veteran of athletics and coaching from the collegiate and Texas high school levels. He enjoys engaging others through athletic events while providing many opportunities for the Baylor family to build solid relationships through various events.
Doug received his bachelor's and master's degree from Baylor. He has also completed mid-management certification hours from Sam Houston State University. He also was an offensive lineman for the Baylor Bears under Coach Grant Teaff from 1973-75 as a member of the '74 SWC Championship Team and the '75 Cotton Bowl.
Doug served as Baylor's Offensive Line Coach from 1999-2002 and was a finalist for the Frank Broyles Assistant Coach of the Year Award in 2001. He has also coached at UTEP, Sam Houston State and the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. He is a member of the "B" Association, AFCA, THSCA and FCA. He also works with the Special Olympics and various other programs.
Doug was named the All-Greater Houston Coach of the Year in 1984, District Coach of the Year (’84; ’89) and Touchdown Club of Houston Coach of the Year finalist ('89). Before returning to Baylor in 2006, he served as Round Rock ISD Associate Athletic Director. Doug also has served as Chairman of the Texas High School Coaches Association and was elected to the Board of Directors in 1989.
Doug and his wife, Tricia, have two daughters, Jessica Marie (BA ’06) and Mary Allison who will attend Baylor in the fall. They reside in Woodway, Texas, and are devout members of St. Jerome's Catholic Church. |
