Kenneth Pargament Lecture: Sacred Matters: Implications of Spirituality for Health and Well-Being
| Date | April 17, 2013 | Time | 3:30 - 5:00 pm |
| Location | Kayser Auditorium Baylor University Waco, TX | ||
| Description | Kenneth I. Pargament, professor of clinical psychology at Bowling Green
State University, will define spirituality in terms of a basic human
yearning for the sacred, a motivation that cannot
be fully reduced to other psychological, social, and physical factors.
I will examine empirical literature which suggests that: (l) people
are motivated to preserve and protect what they hold sacred; (2) the
sacred is a resource to people, particularly in stressful circumstances;
(3) the sacred is linked with powerful spiritual emotions and
psychosocial benefits; (4) the search for the sacred can take
destructive paths. I will conclude by considering recent efforts to
integrate spirituality more fully into our efforts to improve the human
condition.RegistrationPricing• Ken Pargament Lecture (free) Deadline04/17/2013 3:30 PM How to registerRegister online below or call 254-710-7555. Online registration is now closed. Please feel free to attend without registration. Thank you. | ||
