DANIEL SCOTT, bass, holds BM and MM degrees in vocal performance and pedagogy from Indiana University and the Doctor of Music degree in vocal performance and literature from Northwestern University. His principal voice teachers were Hermannus Baer, John Toms, Anna Kaskas, Marko Rothmueller, Norman Farrow, Eugene Bayless and Hadley Crawford, with additional master classes under Pierre Bernac. He has sung recitals, operas and oratorios throughout the country, working with such eminent conductors and stage directors as Boris Goldovsky, Howard Swann, Donald Neuen, Clayton Krehbiel, Thor Johnson, Tibor Kozma, Wolfgang Vacano, Hans Busch, Ross Allen and Robert Gay. Widely known as a stage director, Dr. Scott taught voice and directed opera programs at East Texas State University, The University of Tulsa, Central Missouri State University and California State University, Fullerton before joining the Baylor voice faculty in 1973. Since coming to Baylor, Dr. Scott has taught in the Baylor in London program, and spent a study leave at England's famous Glyndebourne Festival. After intensive study of Russian singing diction with the vocal chairman at the St. Petersburg Conservatory, he is now preparing a multi-volume anthology of Russian arias with phonetic text transcriptions.
