JERRY GORDON, tenor, holds the Doctor of Musical Arts, Master of Music in Voice and Bachelor of Science in Music Education degrees from the College-Conservatory of Music, University of Cincinnati where he won both the Gorno and Baur Vocal Competitions. While a student, he placed in the Metropolitan Opera Auditions, WGN Auditions in Chicago, the Corbett-American Opera Auditions and won second-place in the San Francisco Opera Auditions. Dr. Gordon has sung professionally throughout the United States and in many of the leading opera houses in Europe. He has appeared as soloist with the Atlanta, Cincinnati, Dayton and Honolulu Symphony Orchestras under such noted conductors as Robert Shaw, Josef Krips, Max Rudolf and Eric Kunzel, conductor of the Cincinnati Pops Orchestra. Dr. Gordon appears on Decca Records with the world-famous jazz musician Dave Brubeck, pianist and composer of the sacred-jazz oratorio "Light in the Wilderness." Dr. Gordon teaches voice, opera and song literature at the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria each summer, where he conducts Master Classes in Vocal Technique and serves as Dean of the Summer Vocal Institute.summer.
