Dr. Jana Millar
Senior Lecturer in Music Theory
JANA KUBITZA MILLAR Ph.D., University of North Texas. Professional interests include pedagogy of theory and aural skills, music perception, instructional technology, and form analysis.
For over thirty years, Dr. Millar’s career has been focused on quality teaching of undergraduate core courses in music theory and aural skills. In addition she has presented at regional, national and international music conferences, authored and edited a variety of reports on computer-assisted instruction, and reviewed aural-skills manuscripts for textbook publishers. She is an active member of the Texas Society for Music Theory, serving as treasurer for many years. In recent years, she has enjoyed working with the College Board, serving as a Reader for the AP Music Theory exam.
In addition to teaching theory, Dr. Millar is a church musician, soprano soloist and composer/arranger. Her work with the chamber ensemble, Synchronicity, is recorded on the CD, Sing Me to Heaven. As a certified blue-belt Nia instructor, she teaches regular fitness classes at the Waco Family Y.
