Dr. Louisa Ellis WoodsonAdjunct Professor of Harp
Dr. LOUISA ELLIS WOODSON has been appointed as the adjunct professor of harp at Baylor University in Waco, Texas. She received her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in harp from Manhattan School of Music in New York. She also holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees in Harp Performance from Indiana University, where she studied with Distinguished Professor Susann McDonald. Other teachers include Jana Bouskova, Naoko Yoshino, Isabelle Perrin, Sebastian Lipman, Elzbieta Szmyt, and Deborah Hoffman.
In addition to maintaining a private harp studio, she is currently the Principal Harpist with the Waco Symphony Orchestra. She recently participated as a guest faculty member at the Young Artists' Harp Seminar in Rabun Gap, Georgia. She has taken part in many types of theater productions, including ballet, opera, and musical theater, and has appeared in the New York Musical Theater Festival. Dr. Woodson is also a founding member and proud participant in the Astraios music network, presenting chamber concerts across the country.
Solo work includes recitals in several states, along with countless freelance performances in a wide range of styles. Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Dr. Woodson currently lives in Austin, Texas. |
