Joseph Li, Assistant Professor of Voice, has played and coached for Houston Grand Opera, Wolf Trap Opera Company, Opera Lyra Ottawa, Arizona Opera, Opera Birmingham, Opera in the Heights, and the Aspen Opera Theater Center. This summer Mr. Li served as Head of Music for the Wolf Trap Opera Company’s 2016 season. In past summers at Wolf Trap he coached Wolf Trap Opera Company’s Le nozze di Figaro, Carmen, Don Giovanni, The Inspector (John Musto world premiere), and played various multi-genre Vocal Colors recital series at the Phillips Collection in Washington, DC. He will return to Wolf Trap next summer to perform in recital alongside Steven Blier, acclaimed pianist and Artistic Director of the New York Festival of Song. Before joining Baylor’s faculty this fall, Mr. Li served as Artist Teacher of Opera Studies at the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University for five years. Mr. Li holds a Bachelor of Music in Piano Performance and a Master of Music in Vocal Accompanying from the Manhattan School of Music.
