Five of Baylor University's vocal ensembles will join forces to present their annual choral concert for Parents' Weekend on Friday, September 23, beginning at 5:00 p.m. in Jones Concert Hall, located within the Glennis McCrary Music Building.

Opening the program will be the Women's Choir, conducted by a new member of the Baylor faculty, Lecturer in Choral Music Aaron Hufty. This ensemble will sing the "Gloria" from Mass No. 6 by György Orbán and Gerald T. Smith's "This Is the Day."

The Men's Choir, led by Professor of Church Music Randall Bradley, will perform "Oh, Sing Jubilee to the Lord" by Brad Holmes and then, with John Romero as soloist, "Dúlamán" by Michael McGlynn.

Associate Director of Choral Ensembles Lynne Gackle will conduct the Concert Choir in "Pilgrim's Hymn" from Dan Davison's Three Hermits and Randy Haldeman's arrangement of the French folkdance "Verdurõn."

Dr. Gackle will also lead Bella Voce, a chamber ensemble of women's voices, in two pieces. This group will sing Ola Gjeilo's "Tundra" and a setting by Donald Patriquin of the Canadian folksong "Ah! Si mon moine voulait danser."

The program will conclude with two pieces sung by the A Cappella Choir, under the leadership of Alan Raines, Director of Choral Ensembles. This choir will perform Blake Henson's "My Flight for Heaven" and then "Rytmus" by Ivan Hrusovsky.

This concert is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, call the Baylor University School of Music at 254-710-3991.
