Karen Johnson has completed her eighteenth year (eleven in the Music School) at Baylor University and is the Administrative Assistant to the Keyboard Division. Prior to this position she was Administrative Assistant to the Academic Department and Keyboard Division in the School of Music. Mrs. Johnson began her career at Baylor in the Financial Aid Department, first as a clerical assistant in the Dean's office and followed by processing Federal Pell Grants and student worksheets in the Grant Division. Mrs. Johnson attended Tarleton State University as a business major. She then worked as a clerical assistant in banks in Abilene and Plano for ten years.

Her responsibilities include answering phones and all correspondence for the Keyboard Division, maintaining databases and mailing brochures for recruitment, summer camps and conferences. She is the contact person and prepares and coordinates all information, including collecting and depositing payments for Summer Piano Institute, Baylor/Waco Piano Institute, Mid-Winter Organ Conference, Pipe Organ Encounter for students, Pipe Organ Encounter+ for adults, and Summer Organ Institute. She prepares recruitment packets for prospective students, the Keyboard Division handbook, and provides class assignments to the registrar's office. After piano teachers are assigned, she is responsible for processing and posting the teacher assignments, and jury schedules each semester.
