Degree Programs

The undergraduate and graduate degrees offered by the School of Music are approved by the National Association of Schools of Music.

BACHELOR'S DEGREES

Bachelor of Music Degree
The School of Music offers a four-year course leading to the Bachelor of Music degree with majors in applied music, church music, history and literature, piano pedagogy,theory, and composition. The Bachelor of Music is a professional degree.

Bachelor of Music Education Degree
This degree plan is designed for prospective teachers in the public schools. It is a professional degree that conforms to the certifi cation requirements of the Texas Education Agency.

Bachelor of Arts Degree
The Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in music is offered through the College of Arts and Sciences. In this degree, students may pursue studies that emphasize either performance or academic subjects in music.

Minoring in Music
Any undergraduate student at Baylor University, in any major other than music, may elect a minor in music by completing at least 21 semester hours as outlined in the Minor in Music document. The minor is designed to broaden the educational experience of students by providing a variety of musical experiences.
