Dr. MICHELE HENRY is Associate Professor of Choral Music Education and director of the Women's Choir. Dr. Henry holds the Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Minnesota. Her doctoral dissertation, "The Development of a Vocal Sight-Reading Inventory," focused on the development of an individualized vocal sight-reading test that can be used by classroom educators as well as researchers. She earned her Master of Music Education degree from the University of North Texas and her Bachelor of Music Education degree from Oklahoma Baptist University.

In addition to directing the Women's Choir at Baylor University, Dr. Henry teaches a variety of choral methods courses and supervises student teachers. Dr. Henry is the advisor to the Baylor University Music Educators Association (BUMEA). , and served as the Texas state collegiate chair from 2003-2007. She is the administrator of the Baylor Summer Choral School, which featured Dr. Anton Armstrong and the entire Baylor choral faculty in the summer of 2007.

Before coming to Baylor in 2001, she held a similar position at Malone College in Canton, Ohio. Prior to university-level teaching, Dr. Henry was a choral and general music teacher at Wright Middle School in Nashville, an experience she describes as "undoubtedly my most valuable preparation for teaching future music educators." Concurrently, she served as an adjunct faculty member at Belmont University and as assistant director of the Nashville Children's Choir. She also served on the Tennessee Music Educators Association State Executive Board, organizing auditions and festivals for regional honor choirs and mass choir events.

A specialist in vocal sight-reading materials, techniques, and assessment, Dr. Henry is published in the Journal of Research of Music Education, the Bulletin of the Council for Research in Music Education, UPDATE: Applications of Research in Music Education, the Journal of Music Teacher Education, Choral Journal, Symposium: The Journal of the College Music Society, Texas Music Education Research, the Southwestern Musician, and Connections. She has presented research and clinics at national and regional MENC conventions, at state and district-level conventions in Texas, Ohio, and Tennessee, and at other specialized music education research conferences across the nation. Dr. Henry is a qualified PRAXIS III assessor.

Dr. Henry is the Associate Master at Brooks Residential College. , where she and her husband Douglas and son Zachary live on the Baylor campus.
